After a season of diminished performance and occasionally limited workload, Red Sox designated hitter Hanley Ramirez underwent left shoulder surgery today. The team is expected to announce further details later this afternoon, but Ramirez broke the news himself on social media.

Ramirez saw offensive decline across the board this season. After hitting 30 home runs with a career-high 111 RBIs in 2016, Ramirez saw his OPS decline more than 100 points.
