The Boston Red Sox claimed catcher Bryan Holaday off waivers from the Texas Rangers on Friday, the Boston Herald reports. The club has not confirmed the transaction.
The Red Sox already have catchers Sandy Leon and Ryan Hanigan on the active roster, but they may carry a third now that they have added Holaday.
Holaday hit .238 with two home runs and 13 RBIs in 30 games for Texas this season. He previously hit .251 with three home runs and 30 RBIs in 108 games in parts of four seasons with the Tigers.
