The New York Yankees have been in free fall over the last several months. On June 3, they stood at 37-22 with a 6.5 game lead in the American League East. Now, they're just 61-54 and currently sitting in third place in the division, 6.5 games back of the Blue Jays. In fact, the White Sox have as many wins as the Yankees in the stretch.
Missing presumptive AL MVP Aaron Judge for several weeks certainly didn't help, but their downward spiral began while Judge was still in the lineup. With the Red Sox and Blue Jays surging, the Yankees have been left in the dust.
