OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Red Sox will have to wait at least another week to get David Price back into their starting rotation.
Manager John Farrell announced on Saturday morning that Price would make a second rehab start with Triple-A Pawtucket on Wednesday, when the PawSox are home against Louisville, the Cincinnati Reds affiliate.
The Red Sox were originally hopeful that Price would rejoin their rotation five days after his first rehab start on Friday night, but he was knocked around for three runs and exited after just two innings, having thrown 65 pitches. The Sox wanted to see him get up to 85 to 90 pitches.
