BALTIMORE — The Red Sox’ pregame routine was pretty standard Wednesday. The players grabbed bats and gloves from their lockers. They walked to and from the training room for treatment. They checked their phones, talked to teammates and got themselves ready to take the field.
All while the final innings of the New York Yankees’ day game played on the clubhouse television. Another win for New York meant another challenge for the first-place Sox to hold their ground in the AL East.
Behind a dominant Chris Sale and a rejuvenated lineup, the Red Sox routed the Baltimore Orioles, 9-0, Wednesday night.
