Dennis Eckersley pitched for the the Red Sox in the late 70s and early 80s, followed by a career-ending cameo in 1998.
But it was a 1960s sensibility that Eck brought to Fenway Park Tuesday night.
Waving to the Fenway Park masses in the middle of the third inning from Suite R1 — the Legends Suite — Eckersley did something that no player in the Red Sox clubhouse has been able to do: He asked for peace.
Eck did it with a peace sign, followed by a light pounding of his chest.
He flashed the peace sign a second time.
