Legend has it that former Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein trashed a Nicaraguan hotel room after losing out to the New York Yankees on Cuban defector Jose Contreras.
Those were fun days, no? But Epstein is long gone, of course, having found a new home, which is Chicago, and a new cause, which is the Cubs’ more-than-a-century-old quest for a World Series championship.
What I’m saying here is that the Red Sox have an opening in baseball operations for a man who is willing to break things when things don’t break his way.
We’re talking about you, David Ortiz.
