Earlier this week, Brandon Workman let the Red Sox know he was going to trigger the opt-out in his minor-league contract he signed with the team in May, giving them 48 hours to make a decision on whether to call him up to the majors or let him become a free agent. As we discussed in that linked post, it seemed to make the most sense to bring him up to replace Colten Brewer. That is what is happening, as Alex Cora told the media prior to Thursday’s series finale in Houston that the former closer would re-join the active roster.
