FORT MYERS, Fla. — Rommel Jordan, the younger brother of Red Sox catcher Blake Swihart, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning. He was 23.
Swihart, who had been scheduled to play against the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday afternoon, left JetBlue Park after receiving the news.
Jordan had a rocky upbringing and was taken in by Swihart’s family when he was in high school. He went on to play football at the University of New Mexico.
