Martinez was forced to leave Thursday's game against the Detroit Tigers early due to tightness in his back.  This injury might stem from the back discomfort Martinez experienced last weekend against the Houston Astros. Before he left the game on Thursday Martinez was 0-for-2 with a strikeout and a walk.

The 30-year-old slugger has been having a great season batting .314 with 20 home runs and 52 RBIs in 60 games this season.
