Red Sox News: Andrew Benintendi Turning Heads In Boston Red Sox Organization

Boston Red Sox first round pick Andrew Benintendi, who they picked No. 7 overall, is already making a positive impression on the front office with his production at Class A Short-Season Lowell.

“I’m learning a lot here. We have great coaches, great teammates,” Benintendi recently told SoxProspects.com. “It’s what every kid dreams of, playing professional baseball. I’m just putting in the work.”

Benintendi entered Thursday hitting .278 with seven home runs, 15 RBIs, six stolen bases and a .940 OPS in 135 plate appearances over 31 games with the Spinners, and is expected to receive a call up very soon.

“It just seems like nothing bothers him,” Lowell hitting coach Iggy Suarez recently told the Gloucester Times. “I can only image the pressure all that hype brings. But he is so low key. I remember meeting him when he got here and thinking, ‘How is he so calm?’ I thought I was under a lot of pressure.”
