New team emerges as trade suitor for Boston's Jonny Gomes

In this look into the latest Red Sox trade rumors, the Boston Red Sox could have a potential trade partner in the Kansas City Royals if they decide to unload Jonny Gomes.

According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, the Royals could view Gomes as a necessary upgrade to their flagging lineup during their current playoff push:

Besides Alex Gordon and Lorenzo Cain, the Kansas City Royals haven't had much luck in getting consistent offensive production from their starting lineup. It's been so much of a problem that 42-year-old Raul Ibanez who spent most of his time with the Angels in 2014 struggling beneath the Mendoza Line.

If the Red Sox are truly ready to start selling, picking up a prospect in return for Gomes might be of interest. Picking one up from a historically-loaded Kansas City Royals farm system might be that much better.
