Virginia Sneaks Past BC, 1-0

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Boston College junior pitcher Susannah Anderson held Virginia to just one hit, but the host Cavaliers scored the game's only run as Virginia defeated BC 1-0 Thursday at Palmer Park.

Anderson was outstanding, allowing just a double on the day. She finished with five strikeouts and did not walk a batter.

Virginia was held hitless through three innings before the Cavaliers scored the game's first run in the fourth. Donna Friedman's sacrifice fly scored Katie Goldberg, who led the frame off with a double, to give UVA a 1-0 lead.

BC opened the fifth with a double off the bat of Gianna Boccagno, but pinch runner Elisabeth Laviolette was thrown out at the plate trying to score to end the threat for the Eagles.
