No. 8 Friars Pull Away From Eagles in Third Period

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – No. 8 Providence snapped a scoreless tie on a 3-on-2 just 45 seconds into the third period and held off Boston College late for a 3-1 Hockey East victory to close the regular season on Thursday night at Schneider Arena.

BC wraps up the regular season at 10-11-3 and will be either the No. 7 or 8 seed in next weekend's Hockey East Quarterfinals. The Friars locked up the No. 2 seed with the win, improving to 21-9-6 and 14-7-3 in the league.

If New Hampshire earns at least a point against Northeastern on Friday night, Boston College will slip to eighth and face top-seeded UMass in the playoffs.
