No. 7 Providence Earns 5-4 Overtime Win to Open Quarterfinals

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brandon Duhaime converted a rebound just 1:31 into overtime on Friday night, leading seventh-ranked Providence to a 5-4 victory over Boston College in Game 1 of the best-of-three Hockey East Quarterfinals at Schneider Arena.

The Eagles will try to save their season in Game 2 on Saturday night.

Duhaime followed a shot from Tyce Thompson early in overtime, banging home a rebound off the right pad of Joseph Woll (34 saves) from the left circle.

Julius Mattila had forced overtime for Boston College with just 1:36 remaining in regulation, finishing a loose puck at the right post with Woll on the bench for an extra skater.
