AUSTIN, Texas -- Katherine Mitchell placed second in her semifinal heat of the 800m tonight at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship, advancing to Saturday night's final.
Mitchell crossed the line in 2:02.18, reeling in the field as she clocked the fastest final 400m of her section (1:02.44). The top two finishers in each of the three semifinal heats, plus the next three fastest times, advance to the championship final.
She becomes the first Boston College runner since Caroline King in 2012 - and only the second Eagle ever - to advance to the NCAA outdoor 800m final.
