The Boston College women's soccer team needed a victory and freshman defender Gianna Mitchell delivered. The rookie from Springfield scored in the 110th minute on a header to give the Eagles a 3-2 double-overtime victory at Pittsburgh on Thursday night.
Boston College (10-8-1) picked up three points and finished eighth in the conference at 4-5-1 with 13 points. Louisville lost to NC State, 2-1, to finish with 11 points and a 3-5-2 record. Clemson tied FSU, 2-2, in double-overtime to finished with a 3-4-3 record for 12 points.
The Eagles earned a trip to the ACC Tournament with the win and will play at top-seed Duke on Sunday in Durham.
