TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Freshman center fielder Sal Frelick (Lexington, Mass.) broke open a scoreless-game with a two-run home run in the seventh and freshman right-handed Mason Pelio (San Diego, Calif.) pitched seven-shutout frames in a 8-0, series-clinching shutout for the Boston College baseball team over No. 19 Florida State. The Eagles moved to 14-13 overall and 5-7 in the ACC in front of 4,256 at Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Pelio (4-1) allowed just two hits, a two-out double in the second and a leadoff-single that was erased on a double play in the sixth, across seven innings.
