CARY, N.C. – Boston College center fielder Sal Frelick (Lexington, Mass.) was named to the Golden Spikes Award watch list by USA Baseball on Tuesday. The 43rd Golden Spikes Award will be presented in July to the top amateur baseball player in the country.
Frelick was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and an All-ACC First Team pick at the conclusion of the regular season. A five-tool prospect, he hit .359 with a 1.002 OPS, while providing highlight-reel defense night-after-night in his first season in center and just third overall in the outfield.
