In a move that surprised many in the collegiate baseball world, the University of Oklahoma and head baseball coach Pete Hughes have parted ways after four seasons.
Hughes, who came to Norman in 2014 after seven years at Virginia Tech, took the Sooners to the NCAA tournament this year for the first time in his tenure. Before his time at Virginia Tech, Hughes was the top-man at Boston College for eight years from 1999 to 2006. During that time, he coached current BC head coach Mike Gambino, and later brought him onto his staff as an assistant coach from 2003 to 2005.
