ORONO, Maine – Maine held off numerous comeback attempts from Boston College and opened a two-game weekend series with a 6-3 Hockey East victory on Friday night at Alfond Arena.
The Eagles (12-13-6, 7-9-5 HEA) saw their three-game winning streak come to an end as the Black Bears (14-13-5, 8-9-4 HEA) clinched the three-game regular season series between the schools. Maine also moved two points ahead of BC in the league standings.
The Black Bears took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission following goals from Aidan Carney and Donovan Houle in the opening frame.
