PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Boston College and No. 18 Providence skated to a 1-1 tie on Saturday night at Schneider Arena, but the Friars earned an extra Hockey East point by winning the shootout 2-1 in four rounds.
The Eagles snapped their five-game losing streak and pushed their record to 10-10-4 (5-7-3 HEA), while the Friars moved to 16-9-2 (7-7-1 HEA).
Senior defenseman Jack St. Ivany scored his fourth goal of the season for BC, while graduate student Eric Dop stopped 38 of the 39 shots he faced.
Boston College finished the night 5-for-5 on the penalty kill and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
