Clemson Holds Off Late Boston College Charge in ACC Opener

NEWTON, Mass. – No. 1 Clemson held off a late charge from 10-man Boston College and the defending national champions secured a 2-1 win over the Eagles on Saturday night in the ACC opener at the Newton Soccer Complex.

BC (2-2-1, 0-1-0 ACC) saw its home unbeaten streak snapped at 12 games following an 8-4-0 run which dated back to a 3-2 defeat to Clemson during the 2021 spring season.

Near the end of a tight first half, Tim Ströbeck took advantage of a Boston College turnover on the edge of the 18-yard box to give Clemson (5-0-0, 1-0-0 ACC) a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute.
