Boston College Men’s Hockey Wins Season Opener 5-3

And just like that, the Eagles have hit the ground (ice?) running.

BC knocked off the visiting Wisconsin Badgers 5-3 on opening night and looked good doing it. The freshmen looked strong from the jump, the defense shook off some shaky moments and closed strong, and the play in the offensive zone looked better than it has in a long time. As far as first games though, this one was awfully enjoyable.

BC struck first on an unassisted goal from Julius Mattila just over seven minutes into the first period. The Eagles had just finished killing a penalty when Mattila picked up the puck in the neutral zone.
