Baseball Hammers Holy Cross in Home Opener

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team defeated Holy Cross, 17-2, in its home opener at the Harrington Athletics Village on Tuesday evening. The Eagles improved to 7-8, while the Crusaders dropped to 3-14.

BC scored in each of the first six innings, including four runs in both the first and second innings. Sophomore right fielder Cameron Leary (Bethpage, N.Y.) scored four runs and went 2-for-3 with a two-run triple and two walks. Sophomore first baseman Joe Vetrano (Shrub Oak, N.Y.) reached base in all five plate appearances; going 3-for-3 with three runs and two walks.
