Boston College women’s hockey alums Alex Carpenter and Kelli Stack are heading to the Clarkson Cup championships following a triple OT thriller between their Kunlun Red Star team and the Calgary Inferno. Kunlun will face the Markham Thunder in the championship game, proving that this first year team certainly deserves to be playing in the CWHL.
This game was a battle from start to finish, and went into triple overtime tied at 0-0. Delayne Brian (Calgary) and Noora Raty (Kunlun) both had phenomenal games in goal, stopping 43 and 66 shots respectively. Nobody could find the back of the net until 14:01 in the third overtime, when Alex Carpenter scored the game-winning goal to secure Kunlun’s spot in the playoff finals.
