Utah Jazz reportedly hire Celtics’ Austin Ainge as president of basketball operations

Celtics assistant general manager Austin Ainge is leaving to join the Utah Jazz as their president of basketball operations, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Ainge, the son of former Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge, has spent the last six years as an assistant general manager with the Celtics. He has 17 years of experience in the Celtics’ front office.

“Ownership is awesome and it’s just kind of the next progression of my career,” Ainge told Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe. “Kind of done a lot in Boston and we’ve had a lot of success over the years, and the chance to run my own team is a big part of it.
