Asked around Summer League about Boston Celtics RFAs Marcus Smart and Jabari Bird and the feeling from other teams is that they don’t have enough cap space to make an offer for Smart that Boston won’t easily match. Teams are watching Bird and Boston’s luxury tax line w/ interest.

At this point, most teams are content to use chunks of their MLE to sign minimum players to deals longer than 2 years and/or save it for use later in the season.
