MIAMI — The Celtics will get a chance to see some interesting sights when they fly to Mexico City today in advance of tomorrow night’s game against Sacramento. But perhaps nothing will be more interesting than another reunion with the bundle of contradictions that is Rajon Rondo.
From starting point guard on the Celts’ 2008 championship squad in his sophomore NBA season and a four-time All-Star, Rondo slipped to a level at which the C’s were not going to pay big to keep him as a free agent last summer. There is no seller’s remorse from the trade that netted Jae Crowder and first- and second-round picks from Dallas.
