BOSTON - Kyrie Irving led the Boston Celtics to a 108-105 win on Tuesday night over the Detroit Pistons. Despite his 31 point effort, Irving discussed his effort to get into better shape after the win. Who did he shout out for motivating him? Tommy Heinsohn, of course.
“It’s always great when someone challenges you like that. Especially the respect I have for past Celtics legends,” Irving said. “I think he made it very clear to me. I caught wind of it probably like a week ago, and it bothered me because it was the most honest thing anyone had said about the way I was playing.
