Joe Mazzulla, Celtics won’t “create spiders” ahead of Game 2 against Knicks

BOSTON — It’s been two years since the Celtics trailed in a playoff series, but after a 108-105 overtime defeat at TD Garden, they find themselves in a 1-0 hole against the New York Knicks.

“Obviously, it stings,” Jaylen Brown said after Monday night’s loss. “We feel like we let our home crowd down.”

The loss was marked by 45 missed threes — setting a new NBA playoff record — as well as late-game defensive lapses that allowed players like OG Anunoby (29 points on 10-20 FG) and Jalen Brunson (29 points on 9-23 FG) to find a rhythm.
