As far as the actual pick, the Celtics nailed this one. Langford is a top-10, possibly top-5 talent that dropped to Boston at 14. At the beginning of the college season, Langford was in the conversation with Darius Garland, Ja Morant and Kevin Porter Jr (who dropped even further than Langford) as the best guards in the draft. However, after a disappointing season at Indiana, his draft stock fell as other guards such as Morant had historic seasons.
16.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.3 assets for most players isn’t considered a down year, but for Langford the expectations were sky-high.
