Former Red Sox slugger, David Ortiz, reportedly had a $7,800 bounty on his head

The plot thickens in the shooting saga involving former Red Sox slugger David "Big Papi" Ortiz. It has now been reported that the organizer of the shooting was offered the equivalent of $7,800 to carry out the assassination.

It now appears that the armed attack on Ortiz involved a number of individuals, and not only the two that arrived on a motorcycle just prior to the shooting. Here is more from the Associated Press and New York Times:
