Ex-Celtic Isaiah Thomas inks rest-of-season contract with Suns

Former Celtic Isaiah Thomas won his comeback campaign Monday, inking a contract to finish out the 2023-24 season with the Phoenix Suns.

The 35-year-old guard signed his first of two 10-day deals with the Suns on March 20. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the decision to offer Thomas an extended deal came down to “backcourt depth” and his “strong leadership and vet presence in locker room.”

After going unsigned through the 2022-23 season, Thomas joined the Utah Jazz’ G-League affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars on March 6. His performance over four games – in which he averaged 32.
