LAS VEGAS -- The Celtics are revamping their sports science and training operation, and, in addition to strength coach Bryan Doo choosing to forego an altered role, the club is parting ways with longtime trainer Ed Lacerte.
Lacerte is the longest serving trainer in franchise history, having just completed his 30th season. In addition to numerous honors within his profession, he was notably the trainer for the U.S. Olympic Dream Team basketball squad in 1992.
Doo announced his departure via Instagram Friday. He has been with the Celtics for 14 years. With the coming restructuring, he elected to step away from the club and focus more on family (he and his wife have five children) and the company he founded, Optimal Fitness.
