SALT LAKE CITY — Kelly Olynyk took a hit on his right (shooting) shoulder from the Los Angeles Clippers’ DeAndre Jordan last Wednesday at the Garden that turned out to be a little more complicated than originally thought. When the Celtics return from the NBA All-Star break tomorrow night against the Utah Jazz, Olynyk won’t play.
Olynyk was in Los Angeles yesterday for a second opinion on the shoulder. The original diagnosis of a bruise was rendered at New England Baptist Hospital.
Though president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said during a radio interview that the team expected the player to be “fine,” Olynyk continued to experience soreness after going back to Toronto to enjoy All-Star weekend in his hometown.
