Celtics notebook: David Lee perfect for Brad Stevens' Celtics

PLYMOUTH — In at least one respect David Lee was the ideal offseason addition for Brad Stevens.

The Celtics coach envisions a team so deep, if not star-studded, that he can confidently use a 10-man rotation each night. That will require sacrifice from players who see themselves in bigger roles. Lee lived that part last season as part of Golden State’s NBA championship rotation.

“When I talked to David Lee this summer, I just commended him on the fact that here’s a guy who has been a starter, was an All-Star, was starting in the preseason when he got hurt, comes back and they’re 12-2 and they’re rolling, willingly accepts a role off the bench, and plays more sparingly than he’s played before,” Stevens said before teeing off yesterday at Old Sandwich Golf Club in a charity golf tournament for the Shamrock Foundation.
