Celtics notebook: Al Jefferson lends veteran presence, guidance to young Pacers

Few thought before the season that Indiana would have a chance to crack the top three in the Eastern Conference, but the Pacers entered last night’s game against the Celtics a half-game behind third-place Cleveland.

This is one of the reasons the Pacers have former Celtic Al Jefferson around — to keep the young guys from thinking too much about standings.

“One thing we can control is the games we play,” Jefferson said. “I have to tell the young guys that, because if we start looking too far ahead — we could be here, we could be there — just worry about the things we can control.
