Bruins acquire Tommy Wingels from Blackhawks at deadline

Sweeney acquired bottom-six, right-shot forward Tommy Wingels from the Chicago Blackhawks for a conditional fifth-round draft pick in 2019. The pick becomes a fourth-rounder if the B’s win a round in this year’s playoffs or re-sign Wingels, who is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

“There’s some versatility there,” Sweeney said. “He’s a player who played (with Ottawa) against us last year in the playoffs whom we know very well.
