As it turns out, Danny Ainge duped Boston Celtics fans in a big way this past season.
Before reading another sentence, please do realize Hardwood Houdini isn’t disrespecting Mr. Ainge or that we’re even mad at him for announcing his retirement today.
He will forever be enshrined as a legend in Titletown for bringing the first (and as of yet only) Boston Celtics championship banner to the TD Garden of the new millennium in 2008. That he did so by acquiring Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in one offseason–and reimagining the way contending rosters were built in the years that followed–14 years ago shows that his body of work has been legendary for quite some time.
