2016 NBA Champion and retired NBA big man Channing Frye got very ahead of himself when he proposed a trading landing C.J. McCollum with the Boston Celtics for Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart.
Some NBA players have come back to have very fruitful careers as general managers. A fine and shining example of that is Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge, whose brain we like to get behind the controls of from time to time in hypothetical scenarios.
Some players, like Channing Frye, are better off analyzing the game than making player personnel decisions…because if Frye was the guy in Boston’s front office, chaos would ensue.
