For the Boston Celtics to get the most on their $127 million investment two years ago, Gordon Hayward has to become an All-Star. That is what the team thought they were paying for when they inked the former Utah Jazz star to a max contract.
Regardless of the team’s plans to roster a cohesive big three in Hayward, Kyrie Irving and Al Horford failing, Boston needs to see Hayward live up his lofty expectations. If not, Hayward may become a reviled man in a city that expects championships–and isn’t afraid to call out its athletes for not delivering.
