Celtics News: Paul Pierce talks standing ovation, "would love to" return to Boston

The Boston Celtics impressed many people in Sunday's 101-93 victory over the Washington Wizards, including long-time Celtics mainstay Paul Pierce.

"The Celtics are a really good team, they’ve had a lot of games they should have won when I watched them," the now-Wizard said after the game, via NBA.com.

Prior to the contest, Pierce once again received a standing ovation from the appreciative Boston Celtics fan base. However, this time it didn't dig at him emotionally as it appeared to do when he was a member of the Brooklyn Nets.

"I try to focus a lot, you know, last year was really tough for me to try to lock in on what I need to do," Pierce said. "This year I just want to come in, lock in to the job at hand and focus as much as possible. It’s hard at times when I hear the chants and I hear the people yelling, but when I come in here now, into the Garden, it’s to try and get a win against the Boston Celtics."

However, Pierce remains open to the idea of a reunion in New England down the road.

"We’ll see, if the opportunity presents itself, you know, maybe," Pierce said. "If there’s an opportunity, I would love to."
