The Boston Bruins could finally take a deep breath on Saturday afternoon.
In the midst of a brutal six-game losing streak, Marco Sturm’s club finally responded against one of the top teams in the league in the Colorado Avalanche.
It wasn’t always pretty, but the Bruins’ usually-porous defensive structure did enough to slow down Colorado’s high-octane offense at TD Garden — while Boston landed enough punches down the other end of the ice to secure its first win in two weeks.
Boston still had plenty of work to do if it wanted to put that six-game slide in the rearview mirror.
