After breaking a six-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday afternoon at the TD Garden, it was a sign of relief. They were hoping it was a stepping stone to go on a run before getting buried in the standings.

Morgan Geekie opened the scoring early in the first period, but that would be the last highlight of the game as the Senators hung seven goals on Jeremy Swayman in a 7-2 rout of the Black and Gold.
