Eric Tulsky, now the Vice President of Hockey Management and Strategy for the Carolina Hurricanes, deserves a lot of the credit for just how obsessed coaches, players, and fans have become over this small element of the game. Tulsky pioneered much of hockey’s research on “micro-statistics” during his time at SB Nation.
