A reunion between the Boston Bruins and former captain Brad Marchand reportedly won’t be in the cards this summer.
According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Marchand is reportedly sticking with the defending Stanley Cup champions for the long haul, inking a six-year contract extension worth just under $32 million.
The 37-year-old wing’s long-term extension settles the last bit of business for the Panthers ahead of what was once looking like a painful offseason. But before the official start of NHL free agency on Tuesday afternoon, Florida has already reportedly handled its three top free agents in Marchand, Sam Bennett (eight years, $64 million), and Aaron Ekblad (eight years, $48.
