There’s a lot to be said for the blue collar, underdog mentality—and Coach Pete did a phenomenal job creating that culture—but there’s also a lot to be said about national perception and how that factors into the opportunities BSU is presented with at the end of the season. Unfortunately, we know from experience that simply winning all your games in the regular season sometimes isn’t enough for premium placement in the postseason (looking at you BCS formula in 2004, 2008, and 2009). So, the fact that a national writer on the level of Pete Fiutak is placing Boise State in range of a playoff spot (again, and here’s a refresher of his BSU preview) is very extremely awesome.
