Oregon did not have to look far to find the Ducks’ new football coach

When coach Willie Taggart left Oregon after one year on the job, the Ducks wanted to find some stability in their new football coach.

On Friday, they found it when Mario Cristobal was named the team’s head coach, according to multiple local and national reports. Cristobal, Oregon’s co-offensive coordinator this season, was initially tagged as the interim coach after Taggart left Tuesday.

Oregon faces Boise State on Dec. 16 in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Cristobal is highly-regarded as a recruiter, and will be tasked with holding together a 2018 class that currently ranks in the top 10 by 247Sports.
