10) Although the city of San Diego was largely unknown until the movie Anchorman came out, the area has been inhabited for at least 10,000 years. First, by the Kumeyaay people—a native American tribe that liked to put redundant vowels together. Then, the Eurotrash moved in back in the 1500s when Portuguese explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo claimed the bay for the Spanish Empire and named the site "San Miguel". Then 1602 rolled around and Sebastian Vizcaino was sent to map the California coast and arrived on a ship named after Saint Didacus.
